Brown Sugar Brownies

It is Saturday and you know what that means. Fix something for Sunday School!
Today's recipe came from my Park Street Baptist Cookbook from the early 1970's, but I spiced it up a bit. I pretty much only use butter instead of margarine because butter is all natural, and margarine is man made chemicals usually including trans fats. So, I changed that in the recipe and I added nuts and heath bar bits. If you are tired of chocolate brownies then this is the brownie for you. It is very soft and buttery; not too sweet and the nuts and bits give it an extra added crunch. Hope you enjoy.

Brown Sugar Brownies
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon milk
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 cup nuts (optional)
1/4 cup heath bar bits (optional)

Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients well except for heath bar bits.
2. Bake in 9 inch square pan that you have sprayed well with Pam at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. Check it with a toothpick or knife two inches from the side of the pan to make sure it is done.
3. Optional-Sprinkle heath bar bits on top of brownies. Return pan to oven for 1 minute.
4. Cool before cutting.
